Higher education institutions in Turkmenistan consistently occupy positions in the lists of well-known global rankings, demonstrating the effectiveness of universities in various fields. These results showcase the successes achieved by Turkmen universities across all systems, confirming their constant efforts toward improvement, development, and expansion of opportunities. This also helps address one of the key tasks of the national education system — integrating the country’s universities into the ranks of leading global institutions.
In this regard, to modernize the education system, borrowing international experience, enhancing the quality of education provided to youth, developing international cooperation, and exchanging experiences in integrating universities into international rankings, professors and educators from the International Academy of Equine Studies named after Aba Annayev participated in the international training seminar titled "Strategy for Higher Education Institutions: Achievements in QS and THE International Rankings / Unveiling Success: Indicators for Higher Education Institutions According to QS and THE Rankings," which took place on September 19-20, 2024, under the framework of the ERASMUS+ program of the European Union. The seminar saw active participation from university professors and representatives of educational institutions, discussing important issues related to international rankings.
The main goal of the seminar was to discuss the impact of QS and THE rankings on the development of universities and their international prestige, as well as to develop new strategies in this area. Additionally, issues related to the implementation of sustainable development goals in higher education were extensively discussed.
The seminar's outcomes provided participants with extensive information about using QS and THE rankings, realizing sustainable development goals, and their impact on the development of higher education institutions. They also created new opportunities for experience sharing and strengthened cooperation. Recommendations were also provided for the strategic use of rankings to enhance the quality and effectiveness of universities at the international level. This event proved to be a valuable experience in improving the quality of higher education institutions and enhancing students' academic achievements.
